Introductory technology was the name given to the subject from the onset and, because of the changes in the Junior Secondary School Curriculum, it was changed to Basic Technology with the addition of new topics in the content of the curriculum. Today, Basic technology and Basic Science have been combined with other subjects like Information Technology and Physical and Health Education to reduce the number of subjects that students are taking in junior secondary schools.

Although it is a difficult task, the faculty and the department have been doing their possible best to ensure that the standard is still maintained and sustained every year by not relenting in their efforts. This reflection of this is in the results of our students which we have had up-date in Basic Technology and Technical Drawing both of which are BECE and WAEC respectively. Students in this department have no choice of sub-standard work and laziness in their options but rather, to create interest and work hard for the best.

In order to boost the effort of the staff and encourage the students in showing more interest in Technology, the college provided the opportunity for students to go on excursions to help increase their knowledge and better their understanding on what they already learnt within the four walls of the classroom. 

The students of Basic Technology and Technical Drawing have immensely contributed and still contributing to the growth and development of college by using theoretical knowledge gained from class to practically produce useful things that are visible in college. Such as

1. Construct of metal waste basket placed within the school compound.
2. Construct a garden light by the walkway between the JS3 block and the A/L block.
3. Construct extension boxes and a simple house wiring system on a big board.
4. Construct multiple handset charging points for use on special occasions
5. Construction of elephants beside the college fountain.Construction of an aeroplane at the open field between the Ten Commandments and the College administration block.

Students have excelled and continue to excel in this department. Indeed, technology is a nation’s tool for Modern life.
